Imogen Welch was born in Chichester, and was brought up in Bolton, Lancashire with her sister and two brothers. She started collecting rocks and fossils when she was seven, and later progressed to polishing stones, and studying geology at university. She previously worked for the MOD, BT and IBM, dealing with large computer systems, and is currently studying for a degree in Fine Art at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.
