Lucy Soutter was born in New York, and grew up in London with her American family. She studied Art and Literature at Harvard College, did an MA in Photography at the California Institute of Arts in Los Angeles, and recently completed a PhD in the History of Art at Yale University. Study and travel are both important components of her photography. Lucy is currently second year tutor at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, where she is enjoying helping student artists to find their own vision. She has exhibited her photographs in New York, Los Angeles and London. Her artist's books Obsessive Love and Art Theory Made Me Cry are in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
