A lot of my art has been concerned with multiples. There is something very satisfying about hundreds of the same thing. Sometimes collecting many objects together creates a more concentrated meaning that has a different impact on the viewer. Usually the pieces that work best are the ones with strong symbolism that trigger memories and carry a message. I have used materials such as children's cardigans, with buttons, ribbons, and poppies for my pieces in this exhibition. Working with unusual materials can have huge advantages as the objects already carry their own meanings and associations, and they bring these to the finished artwork.
